Hello
Toni "Gringo" Hakala
Author. Fighter. Speaker.
Nearly ten years in a Brazilian prison. Survival. Forgiveness. Building a life from nothing. I don't offer easy answers. I offer questions, the ones I've had to face myself when there was no way out.
Martial arts has been part of the journey all along. It has taught me that people are stronger than they think and that change comes from compassion toward yourself, not from force.
Today I share this experience through coaching, public speaking and writing. Especially with those who are searching their way back to themselves.
My Story
I am Toni Hakala, former Corinthians SC athlete, coach and author. Physical training and self-development have been part of my life since I was young. They have shaped not only my performance but also the way I approach life and other people.
My professional background is not built on formal qualifications but on decades of practical experience. I see physical training as more than developing technique or strength, it is a tool for building resilience, self-awareness and responsibility.
My life has included serious challenges, including a long prison sentence in Brazil. I take full responsibility for my past. That period demanded deep self-reflection and I used it for learning, training and rebuilding my mindset.
These experiences guide my work today. I understand setbacks and the long process of change as lived reality, not theoretical concepts. That allows me to work with people honestly and practically.
In March 2026 I published my first book Sinä kuolet huomenna together with Tapani Bagge, published by Docendo. The book explores life, responsibility and the possibility of change. After nearly two decades I am free. My goal is simple, to build a meaningful life through honest work and to be of service to others. If you are ready to work consistently and take responsibility for your own growth, I am ready to walk alongside you.
